“Dr B’s Film Club is a showcase for the ‘Short Films’ we are currently digging here at B’ Vaping HQ. Not ALWAYS constrained exclusively to vape or #vapelife. We and the B’ peruse the dusty depths of the web for all manner of celluloid art…popcorn-tastic times”

“…A loose cannon at the end of his rope goes on a moral rampage against Los Angeles millenials with the LAPD’s finest social media cop on his tail”
Millennial entitlement and creative class self-indulgence are both on the kill list for Comedian Brad Gage and co-writer Drew Spears in the sly, satirical new web-series Rough Day. Under the direction of Eric Lombart, the six-part shorts follow Gage as Low-Fare, a down-on-his-luck Everyman on a crash course not unlike Michael Douglas’ very bad day in the 1993 movie Falling Down.

Gage, host of the Drunk Driving web-series and Sketchmelt show, conceived of the idea with Spears while performing at Hollywood’s Nerdmelt Showroom. “We were doing a show called Booze Cruise, that’s where the idea originated. I was wearing a costume and he said I looked like Michael Douglas from Falling Down and we both love hyper-violent shows like Eagleheart, so we decided to do a parody that would be more weird and satirical.”

“A man at the end of his rope, on a moral rampage against the annoying millennials he encounters on his epic journey across Los Angeles”
Just as that film’s anger was informed by the cultural stomach pains of the time, Gage and his writing partner knew their show would have to lampoon modern frustrations. Vapers, YouTube pranksters, and police violence were immediately identified as targets. “I read so many horrible things on social media, that instead of posting a long thing about my feelings, I thought satirizing this stuff would help make me feel a little better. Help people find some humour at how ridiculous our current society is.” – YAY! LA
